Emily Heinz, behind Ridgewood Artist Coalition, is creating Third Brook. It is a new online publication that features the work of international scholars, poets, writers, artists, thinkers, and pays each contributor for their work.

Founded in 2014, the Ridgewood Artists Coalition is a center of gravity for artists living in and around Ridgewood, Queens. Their goal is to be a coalition for artists to meet, to discuss, to exhibit, and to showcase their work locally.

With this publication, they hope to spark a new tradition: one of publications that unify art and critical thought, and treat those things as well as their creators with the utmost respect. The internet does not have to be a tapestry of distraction.

They  believe in creating oases of calm in the mad rapids of the internet, where the mind and spirit find solace in a unified place of art and thought, where artists and thinkers and readers are all simultaneously fostered, and communally funded by people who share the same desire.

Submissions to Third Brook will be open to the general public, meaning that anyone can send in anything to be considered for publication.
